October 9, 10 and 11
(Ages 5-10)
The magic of movies is all in the eye—and early inventors knew this long before the movies existed. Visit our lab of experimentation where you can build your own objects that will make your pictures spring to life. Your gaze will be amazed as you explore optical illusions and start to see things that aren't really there—or are they?
(Ages 5 – 8) Morning, (Ages 9-12) Afternoon
Back in the day (meaning the 1890s) music videos were called “illustrated songs”, and audiences used to flock to the 5 cent cinemas to see how the latest tunes would get matched up with colourful pictures and projections. Join us as we step this up to the present day, matching current tracks with your drawings, done on site and projected on screen.

Looking to disappear? Face down a giant? Walk a tightrope? All these things are possible in the world of cinema, and all it takes is a camera and a few handy tricks. No fancy technology needed when you take lessons from the super-smart stars of the silent screen!
October 16 & 17
(Ages 7-12)
Think you can deliver lines from famous movies as well as the actors? Try your hand and voice at one of our dubbing stations and join other visitors as you recreate well-known quotations from the Essential 100 films.
(Ages 5-12 )
Open your ears to the weird, wacky and wonderful world of the foley artis and discover the magic of creating sound effects with chairs, shoes, water bottles, phonebooks and other nutty props. Visitors can witness a professional foley artist perform some mind-blowing sound wizardry, and then they can try it out themselves.
October 23 and 24
(Ages 5-12)
Enter the behind-the-scenes world of costumes and make-up, where creativity reigns supreme! Bring your own attire for on-site DIY fashion tailoring or dive into our wardrobe of fun frocks. Complete the look with the make-up to match: gory or pretty, shiny or slick. We’ll have experts around to help you out, but limitless imagination is all that’s required.
