Mahamat-Saleh Haroun was born in Abéché, Chad, and studied film in Paris and then journalism in Bordeaux. His three features are Bye-bye Africa (99), Abouna (02) and Daratt (06), which won the Grand Special Jury Prize at the Venice International Film Festival. Expectations (08) is his latest short film.
