Allen Braude, Co-Programmer of TIFF’s Sprockets Family Zone and
Dialogues: Talking with Pictures sections, grew up in Toronto,
spending his teenaged years watching contemporary, classic and off-beat
films in rep cinemas. After moving to Vancouver, he studied film at
Simon Fraser University, augmenting his education by volunteering and
attending screenings at the Pacific Cinematheque, which deepened his
excitement for the diversity of cinema. He began working with TIFF in
2000, and was Programming Manager for Sprockets Toronto International
Film Festival for Children for two years before becoming Co-Director of
Learning at the start of 2008. Allen was a jury member at the 2007 Tel
Aviv International Children’s Film Festival, and will travel after TIFF
to Denmark, where he will be on the jury of the Buster – Copenhagen
International Film Festival for Children and Youth.
