Andréa Picard is a Toronto-based writer and curator who studied Fine Art History, French Literature and Cinema Studies at the University of Toronto. She began her career in film as a costume designer before joining the programming team of Cinematheque Ontario, our celebrated year-round screening programme, in 1998. In addition to her full-time role as Programmer for Cinematheque Ontario, she has curated Wavelengths for the past three years. An accomplished writer on film, art and architecture, her essays and articles have been published by, among others, Sonnabend Gallery (New York City), Flash Arts International, Canadian Architect, Canadian Art, Prefix Photo and Border Crossings. Her longstanding FILM/ART column for Cinema Scope magazine explores the intersections between cinema and the visual arts – a place where she often finds herself. There, and in Paris.
