John Curran was born in Utica, New York and attended Syracuse University. After working as a graphic designer, illustrator, and production designer, he made the short film Down Rusty Down (96). He made his feature film debut with Praise (98), which won the international critics’ award at the Festival. His other feature films as director are We Don’t Live Here Anymore (04), The Painted Veil (06) and Stone (10).
