The apotheosis of Marilyn Monroe and the height of the American farce, Billy Wilder's hilarious cross-dressing comedy remains as deft, fizzy and funny as it was half a century ago. When two struggling musicians (Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon) inadvertently witness a gangland massacre, they hightail it to Florida disguised as women in a travelling all-girl band, a ruse made all the riskier when each becomes enamoured of the lead singer, the vivacious and voluptuous Sugar Kane (Monroe). Laced with risqué, rapid-fire wit, with top-form work from the slick Curtis and jittery Lemmon, and and featuring Monroe's sexiest, warmest and funniest performance, Some Like It Hot is a true comedy classic—not to mention that it ends on one of the best closing lines in film history.
