The Toronto International Film Festival gratefully acknowledges the continuing support of the public sector, whose contributions allow us to stimulate a more successful Canadian film culture and industry and to promote the widest possible enjoyment of Canadian cinema throughout Canada and the world.
Federal
For the past 40 years,Telefilm Canada has been an essential federal cultural agency dedicated to the development and promotion of the Canadian audiovisual industry. Their support of this year’s Festival allows us to effectively promote and celebrate Canadian film as well as to offer industrial professional-development programmes for Canadian filmmakers.
Telefilm is also a cultural investor in cinema, television and new media. This year’s Canadian film selection will include a number of films that were made possible with Telefilm’s financial participation. Check back here for more updates!
Canadas Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade (DFAIT) works to achieve increased economic opportunity and enhanced security for Canadians at home and abroad. With their assistance, TIFF is able to invite industry delegates from abroad for the purpose of promoting Canadian films to an international market. DFAIT is also an important partner in this years Canadian Music Café.
Canadian Heritage works with partners across the country to promote culture, the arts, heritage, official languages, citizenship and participation, multiculturalism, Aboriginal, youth and sport initiatives. They support the Festival through Telefilm Canada and assist with professional-development and networking opportunities that prepare Canadian filmmakers for the international market through the Trade Routes Contribution Program.
The mission of Human Resources and Social Development Canada (HRSDC) is to build a stronger and more competitive Canada, to support Canadians in making choices that help them live productive and rewarding lives and to improve Canadians’ quality of life. HRSDC offers employment subsidies that allow us to hire students over the summer as we prepare for TIFF.
Provincial
Ontario Media Development Corporation (OMDC), an agency of the Ministry of Culture, is the central catalyst for the province’s cultural media cluster including book publishing, the film and television, interactive digital media, magazine publishing and music industries. OMDC's support allows the Festival to showcase our province’s incredible filmmaking industry and to offer professional-development opportunities for Ontario filmmakers.
The Ministry of Ontario Tourism supports delivery of high-quality tourism and recreation experiences to Ontarians and visitors to Ontario, and works to make our province a year-round world-class travel destination. The Ministry helps us to Celebrate Ontario and our over 3,000 festivals and fairs for every season and every reason.
The Ontario Arts Council (OAC) is an arm's-length agency of Ontario’s Ministry of Culture that offers grants and services to professional, Ontario-based artists and arts organizations to support the arts in all its forms. Their support of TIFF helps to build Ontario’s film industry and culture, and exhibit new and alternative forms of cinema that raise the profile of the arts in the province.
Municipal
The Toronto Arts Council (TAC) supports the development, accessibility and excellence of the arts in Toronto by offering grant programmes to the city’s arts organizations and professional artists. As a long-time friend of the Festival, TAC supports our goal of servicing the city’s artistic community and meeting the cultural needs of Toronto’s diverse population.
The City of Toronto’s Economic Development Office helps local business succeed and provides support to key sectors within the city, including the film industry. The City is a presenting partner for the Toronto-City Award for Best Canadian Feature Film and also supports our efforts to make Toronto an internationally-recognized business destination for the production, distribution, and promotion of film.
