Please define ‘Premium Public Screening’.
In all cases, these will be a first public screening at the Festival, at either Roy Thomson Hall or the Visa Screening Room at the Elgin Theatre. They will also meet at least one of the following criteria to ensure a premium Festival experience:
- Be a red carpet event.
- Be a North American premiere (at minimum).
- Include a Q&A with either a director or principal cast.
Wherever possible, the repeat screenings of these titles will be shown as Regular Public Screenings, and are therefore eligible for Festival/Day/10-Ticket Package holders to choose in the Advance Order Procedure.

Please define ‘Regular Public Screening’.
Regular Public Screenings are eligible for Festival/Day/10-Ticket Package holders to book tickets through the Advance Order Procedure. As much as possible, these screenings will offer interaction with cast and filmmakers, including Q&As whenever possible. This activity is not exclusive to Premium screenings.
Please define ‘First Public Screening’.
Toronto International Film Festival titles generally screen 2 or 3 times. This term refers to the first public screening scheduled at the Festival.
Can children attend a screening?
The majority of the titles screening at the Festival are rated by the Ontario Film Review Board and these film ratings will be indicated in our Official Film Schedule as of August 25. However, it is impossible for 100 per cent of the Festival lineup to receive a rating before the Festival begins.
All films that don’t receive a rating by the OFRB are considered “unrated” – the equivalent of a restricted rating, meaning persons 18 years of age or younger are not admitted (this includes babes-in-arms, infants and toddlers).
Our organization does present options for families and younger audiences throughout the year:
- The Fesitval’s Sprockets Family Zone series offers family-rated, regular-priced screenings. Children’s tickets (age 12 and under) for titles in the Sprockets Family Zone programme go on sale September 4 at 7am.
-
Sprockets Toronto International Film Festival (April 17 to 23, 2010) offers both a weekend family programme and a weekday school programme.

Please take the time to check your online order before it is submitted to ensure accuracy, and be sure to check your tickets upon receipt.

I have already placed an order for ticket packages. What should I do if I want to buy additional ticket packages?
If you wish to purchase additional ticket packages, we encourage you to contact us directly at 416-968-FILM or toll-free at 1-877-968-FILM between 10am and 7pm, Monday through Friday, to make these arrangements.
Please quote your original order ID so we can add your new purchase to your existing order. We ask customers to make these arrangements with us so as to better ensure orders are processed together and to minimize confusion resulting over separate orders.
Please allow 14 days for mailing revised order confirmation vouchers to you. Due to time restrictions, we will not mail adjusted ticket package order requests placed after August 7, 2009; these revised vouchers would need to be picked up at our Festival Box Office at Nathan Phillips Square (subscribers to the Out of Town Ticket Selection Service excepted).

What if I don’t participate in the Advance Order Procedure? Can I still book tickets using my Festival/Day/10-Ticket Package?
If you don’t participate in the Advance Order Procedure, they may still select screenings, but you must wait until September 3 to make your selections in person at the Festival Box Office at Nathan Phillips Square, or as of September 4 at the Festival Box Office at Roy Thomson Hall. All ticket requests are subject to availability.

I placed an Advance Order using a Festival/Day/10-Ticket Package. I received ‘PVC ouchers’ when my order was processed. What are these vouchers and how do they work?
As we process ticket orders, Festival/Daytime/10-Ticket Package holders will receive screening vouchers (coded as PVC vouchers in the confirmation email) with their completed order if their first or second choices were unavailable by the time the order was processed, or to reflect the balance of your ticket package.
For example, if you submit a request for your Day Package (25 tickets in total) but only 24 of them are available by the time we process your order, this means you will be issued the 24 film tickets plus 1 screening voucher for the difference.
Screening vouchers can be used to make bookings for alternate selections at any point during the Festival, in-person only, at one of our Festival or Venue Box Offices. All screening vouchers are valid for use until September 19, 2009 at 11:59pm.

I want to exchange the tickets I received using a Festival/Day/10-Ticket Package – how do I do this?
You may exchange tickets received using a Festival/Day/10-Ticket Package at no additional charge, but the following conditions apply:
- You must make the exchange in person at one of our two Festival Box Offices (Nathan Phillips Square or Roy Thomson Hall) during operating hours (7am to 7pm)
- It must be a straight ticket-for-ticket exchange, not a ticket for a screening voucher.
- There are no same-day exchanges allowed. For example, if you want to exchange a ticket for a screening taking place on Thursday September 17, the exchange must take place no later than Wednesday, September 16 at 7pm.
I will be in Toronto between August 25 and August 31; how do I submit an Advance Order for my Festival Package / Day Package / 10-Ticket Package?
Festival and Day Package (Regular and Lite) and 10-Ticket Package purchasers can participate in the Advance Order Procedure and have the advantage of being able to choose their selections ahead of the general public.
Here’s how Festival and Day Package (Regular and Lite) and 10-Ticket Package holders who will be in Toronto between August 25 and 31 can submit an Advance Order:
August 25, 2009
pick up: Advance Order Book, Programme Book and Official Film Schedule
available at: Festival Box Office at Nathan Phillips Square only.
The Official Film Schedule is also available in the August 28 edition of NOW Magazine and select Starbucks locations in the GTA as of August 26.
You will need both the Advance Order Book and Official Film Schedule to make your film selections.
August 25 to August 31, 2009
Make your film selections in the Advance Order Book.
Completed orders can be dropped off only at the Festival Box Office at Nathan Phillips Square during hours of operation.
August 31, 2009 at 1:00pm
Deadline to drop off completed Advance Order Book for participation in the draw
Accepted at the Festival Box Office at Nathan Phillips Square only.
Order Books received after 1:00pm will be processed after the draw is completed, in the order they were received.
This is how the Advance Order Procedure is processed:
All orders received at our Festival Box Office at Nathan Phillips Square before 1:00pm on August 31, 2009 will be placed in numbered boxes.
A draw will determine which box of orders will be processed first. For example: In the event that 40 boxes of orders have been collected, a number representing each box will be placed into a drum for random selection. If box 16 was selected, it would become the first box of orders to be processed. Box 17 would be next followed by box 18 and so on until box 40. Boxes 1 through 15 would follow behind in order.
Donors at the Benefactor giving level and above (gifts of $250 or more) can drop off their orders in boxes representing each donor level. Orders will processed in giving level order in advance of the first numbered box of orders as determined by the draw. For example: Donors at the 52/7 Circle will have their box of orders processed first, followed by the boxes representing each donor level in descending order.
Orders received after 1:00pm on August 31, 2009, will NOT be part of the draw. These orders will be processed after all the draw orders, in the order in which they were received.
Beginning September 3, 2009 at 7:00am, all processed Advance Ticket Orders will be available for pick-up only at the Festival Box Office at Nathan Phillips Square.

Here’s how Festival and Day Package (Regular and Lite) and 10-Ticket Package holders who will not be in Toronto between August 25 and 31 can submit an Advance Order:

You will have to arrange FedEx pick-up by 5:00pm local time on August 28, 2009, to guarantee delivery to the Festival Box Office at Nathan Phillips Square by 1:00pm, August 31, 2009*, which is the deadline for the Advance Order Procedure draw. Delivery not guaranteed from rural or remote locations.
We will process a maximum of 100 tickets per package.
The Toronto International Film Festival thanks Federal Express Canada Ltd. for their continued support.
*Delivery dates are subject to FedEx's policies and guarantees.
* Donors at the Benefactor giving level and above (gifts of $250 or more) can drop off their orders in boxes representing each donor level.

Will I receive my Festival/Day/10-Film Ticket Package or ticket vouchers in the mail?
We only mail confirmations of orders placed before July 31 at 11:59pm. All orders placed after July 31 at 11:59 pm are held in reserve for pick-up at our Festival Box Office at Nathan Phillips Square with the following exceptions:
Ticket packages claiming a Student or Senior Discount, which are held at the Festival Box Office at Nathan Phillips Square for pick-up.
Subscribers to the Out of Town Ticket Selection Service, who will have their vouchers sent to them with their ordering materials for delivery on August 25.
For orders placed before July 31 at 11:59pm, customers will receive three vouchers in the mail – An Envelope Voucher, a Drop-Off Voucher, and a Pick-Up Voucher to participate in the order procedure.
The Envelope Voucher is to receive our official drop-off envelope.
The Drop-Off Voucher would be enclosed with their Advance Draw order. NO Drop-Off Voucher submitted = NO processing of order.
The Pick-Up voucher must be exchanged for their completed order when they come to the Festival Box Office at Nathan Phillips Square to pick up their tickets as of September 3 at 7am.
Vouchers ordered before July 31 at 11:59pm are currently being mailed out. We apologize for the delay. If you placed an order between July 6 at 10am and July 31 at 11:59 pm and still have not received your vouchers in the mail, we ask you to follow up with us if you have still not received the vouchers by August 14, for our follow-up.

What happened to the 30 Coupon Package you used to sell?
The 30 Coupon product was discontinued as of 2007 - we sell 10-Ticket Packages, sold in units of 10.
We changed the name of the Coupon product because we don’t issue physical coupons anymore; calling it a coupon book without actually issuing coupons is a bit confusing, especially to newer Festival audiences.
The Festival and Day Lite Ticket Packages are ideal for people who go alone to the Festival and would order three books of 10 as an intermediate purchase level between buying the old Festival Pass and a 10-Ticket package. It is our response to demands from the public for more flexible ticket options. These products provide great value; for instance, a Festival Lite Package (good for 30 tickets) is less expensive than buying three 10-Ticket Packages.

How Does the Festival Student Card work?
The Festival Student Card can be used to select screenings scheduled for the day of the Card purchased. For example, if you were to buy the September 12 Festival Student Card, then starting on September 12 you can visit one of our Festival or Venue box offices and select up to 5 regular public screenings for that day. The card is valid from the first screening of the day until 11:59pm that evening.
The Festival Box offices open daily at 7:00am during the Festival; Venue Box Offices open one hour before the first scheduled screening of the day.
Both the Festival Student Card and valid student ID must be presented with ticket to be admitted to the cinema.

Please define “On-Sale”, “Off-Sale” and “Rush”.
-
On-Sale – advance tickets are available.
-
Off-Sale – based on the existing inventory, advance tickets are unavailable. Inventory will be added when available and customers should check back frequently for this availability. On the website, screenings where there is no current ticket inventory will have O.S. (or Off-Sale) indicated.
-
Rush – advance tickets are unavailable, and tickets for this screening will now only be made available at the venue, sold only at the discretion of the venue’s front-of-house staff in the 15 minutes before the start of the screening, based on whether there are available seats in the house.

How does the Rush Line work?
When a screening is Off-Sale, a line of non-ticket holders is formed outside the theatre. This is known as the Rush Line. If there are empty seats available just prior to the screening, the Festival's Theatre Representative may allow people from the Rush Line to purchase tickets or exchange an appropriate pass or voucher to gain admittance. There is no guarantee that anyone in the Rush Line will gain admittance. All Rush ticket sales are cash only.
Be sure to visit the “Best Bets” section of tiff.net/thefestival every evening from September 10 to 19, 2009, to find out which screenings on the following day will have same-day tickets available.
